The Seven Sisters Review & a special announcement

Second Chances (The Seven Sisters Series, Book 1)This book begins The Seven Sisters Series.  I read this book several summers ago, but had totally forgotten everything in it.  I gradually remembered it as I read, but it really was just like reading it for the first time.  I'm currently reading the second book in the series and again, it is like reading it for the first time.

I really enjoy Debra White Smith as an author.  I've read several of her books, and even read one of her non-fiction books.  My most favorite books to read are ones that are part of a series- I like to have several books to engage with the characters.

The series is the stories of each of these 7 "sisters'.  They were college friends and became so close that they call themselves sisters.  Each book features 1 or 2 of the sisters and includes some kind of crime and a love story.  The first book features Marilyn, a divorcee, and her young daughter.  Marilyn and Brooke discover a hunky neighbor across the street with a dark past.  Of course, the dark past comes to bear his ugly face and try to hurt Marilyn, Brooke, and Joshua- the hunky neighbor.  That's enough of a preview, or you won't read it!
One downside to this series?  I keep comparing her to Karen Kingsbury's series on the Baxter family.  She does such a nice job of incorporating the other characters so deeply into each new book.  Unfortunately, Debra doesn't do that as well in this series.  You just get a sneak peek at the prior character and little snippets along the way.  I don't remember feeling that disappointed the fist time that I read it, but I am feeling the disappointment this time. The best way to counter-act this feeling?  Read each book and be grateful for the great story line and suspense within each one!

I promised you an announcement.  Are you ready for it?  Next week, I will feature one of my favorite authors on here and a FREE BOOK giveaway from her!  I sure wish I was the one getting the free book.  I guess I'll just have to go and buy it myself.  Stay tuned.
