When the entire world joined the Blog-revolution, I drug my feet. Why in the world would anyone care to read what I think? Why in the world would I WANT the entire world to read what I think? I still haven't changed my mind, however, I read another person's blog where she talks about books, and I thought, "wow, I love that!" I feel a little guilty, like I'm stealing her idea, but she really focuses on non-fiction. I'm more of a fiction gal myself.
I still believe that everyone in the world should pick up a book and read it! Who doesn't want to travel to foreign lands and see exciting things, or travel to a new city right in your own state, or to a new state in the US? Who doesn't want to meet hundreds of new friends? Besides, as we age, we have to be careful to keep our minds sharp and what better way to do so than reading? And don't forget the damage that the internet and tv does to our ability to focus, we have to counteract that! One more final reason to pick up a book and read it... it makes your children smarter! How? When they watch mommy and daddy reading, they will begin reading too and before you know it, they are doing better in school. Yes, this is a statistic!
